We’re thrilled to share that The Orangery, a restaurant operated by The Good Eating Company, has been awarded the Innovation Award at the Foodservice Cateys 2025, one of the highest honours in hospitality and foodservice.

Held at the Royal Lancaster London, the Foodservice Cateys, often described as the “Oscars of the Hospitality world,”  brings together the very best from across the industry to celebrate excellence, creativity and leadership. Each year, peers from within hospitality recognise those redefining what’s possible in their field and this year, The Orangery TCR stood out as an  example of innovation with purpose.

Launched in 2024 on Tottenham Court Road, The Orangery TCR is a concept that is built  around our fully integrated hydroponic farm. We grow herbs and greens, beneath the restaurant itself in a unique approach that allows crops to thrive using up to 90% less water than traditional farming methods while producing a yield equal to 1.1 acres of farmland.

The project has inspired and sparked curiosity from the very beginning, and since then more than 500kg of fresh produce has already been harvested and used in our restaurant’s menus. Bookings have doubled, and sales have grown by more than 60%. But most importantly, it’s created a model for sustainable dining that can work in busy urban spaces.

One of the Cateys judges, Michiel Hageman, described The Orangery as “a restaurant for the future, not only reducing carbon footprint, but also showcasing homegrown produce.” For us at The Good Eating Company, this recognition goes beyond the restaurant itself. It’s a reflection of our shared vision to keep pushing boundaries, exploring new ideas, and leading the way in foodservice innovation.

We’re incredibly proud of The Orangery team and everyone at GEC who helped bring this vision to life. The Innovation Award is a remarkable recognition of our commitment to sustainable dining. It’s also a reflection of how creativity, innovation, and sustainability can come together to shape an exciting and sustainable future for food, one that The Good Eating Company is helping to create.
